Office stuff

Lee Goldberg is doing it, along with PBW, and Jenny Crusie. Showing their work spaces, that is. Here's mine:

You can see the edge of my Serenity movie poster, along with Daisy (of course), my cactus (which is called Fred), and my massive clutter. I'm not the most organized person. In fact, I'm not organized at all. Which is probably why I like Jenny Crusie's office best of all. It seems...homey.

A-- I've been lurking around, following your discussion of writing in the "real world", enjoy your point of view immensely, and B-- that is so not a cluttered workspace. I'm not going to allude to my own desk, having not seen it in several years, but some people... ;)

Your desk lamp is gorgeous! And I like the bookcases in the background as well. To me, the clutter declares, "A busy author works here!" :-)

I like your office space, particularly Daisy (hooray for fluffy little dogs!). Your lamp is especially lovely. Jenny Crusie's office nearly sent me into a panic attack. I don't think I could work there.

Cluttered? Don't make me laugh. I can clearly SEE bare desktop on all sides of your laptop. Moving a piece of paper doesn't look like it invites an avalanche, and you don't appear to require having studied some forensic archeology in order to figure out at what layer the notes you have for a particular story/chapter might have been subsumed to.

Now this Jenny person, it looks like you have to plan your steps carefully in and out of her lair -- now that's clutter.

Come on, Marjorie, you're a piker at clutter -- you just think things are in the way because you're balancing your furry white friend on your lap. (grin) When you have to move the mouse pad just in order to get six square inches so you can sign your name to the cover letter on your next submission, then you can talk about clutter. (double-grin)

Of course right now I am typing in the luxury of having square FEET of free space around my small laptop -- because I am working in the business center at my local Chevy dealer while my Blazer is getting re-worked on. (triple-word-score-grin)

It doesn't look like massive clutter to me. Although we can't see the floor... 8-}
Teach Daisy to type and you can dictate to her.

I agree with the others -- that workspace is far from cluttered. Must be difficult to work with the dog in your hand, though.
